Media Day 2012
(Note, this info is for 2012, and will be updated for 2013 in the Spring) Media Day will be on Friday, May 31 beginning at 10am at Flight Line Services, located at the Region of Waterloo International Airport. This opportunity will give accredited media access to the Hot Ramp, performing aircraft, their pilots and crew. There will be no formalities, but casual milling about amongst aircraft and crew. There will be aircraft coming and going throughout the day, and regulations and direction by air show personnel must be followed. After 2:30pm, access to the Hot Ramp will be closed to media, although media are welcome to remain on Flight Line's 'air side' as long as they stay on the grass. Please keep in mind, the Hot Ramp will be active all day, and media may experience some further restrictions regarding where they can go.
Upon arrival, proceed to Fllight Line Services (see Hot Ramp below) and there will be a Media table for you to check in and get badges and passes.
All accredited media get access to the Media Area for the day or weekend. This is an exclusive, front-row viewing area, close to the ramp where all aircraft taxi before and after their performance. We try to make the area comfortable with plastic chairs, a modest shelter and a table. Water and sandwiches will be offered.
The Hot Ramp
It will be located at Flight Line Services, not at the Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre. As you enter the airport off Fountain Street, proceed down the road which naturally curves right. Around the curve is Flight Line.
Please note, the Hot Ramp will be available to media during Media Day, but no access permitted throughout the weekend.
Parking during Media Day and show days is in the airport terminal's public parking lot. During Media Day, a parking pass is not required, while on show days, a parking pass IS required. Accredited media can pick up Saturday and Sunday parking passes during Media Day. If you come to the show for the first time on Saturday or Sunday, you can show your legitimate media I.D. to the parking police for on-site parking access. Those without proper media I.D. can park with the general public (east side of airport property) and make their way to the Media Check-in at Gate 13 for a media pass that allows you access into the Media Area.
Please let us know if you have further questions. You may register online for media accreditation.
We look forward to hosting you.
