Media Accreditation & Photo Pit Accreditation

Please note, 2 different media passes will be distributed this year:

1) Media Accreditation: given to media who are working for proven editorial purposes to promote the Waterloo Air Show. Will have access to Media Day on Friday and the Photo Pit on Sat & Sun

2) Photo Pit Accreditation: given to those who will use proven channels other than traditional media outlets to promote the Waterloo Air Show. Will have access to the Photo Pit on Sat & Sun.

Media Day - Friday, June 27, 2014 -- Begins 10:30am

CF 18

Media Day will be on Friday, June 27 from 10:30am to approximately 4pm at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

Media Day is only open to Accredited Media who wish to interview performers and crew, or take photos for editorial coverage. Media with Photo Pit Accreditation do not have access to Media Day.

The day is casual with no formalities, and media can arrive any time during the day. Performers will be available for interviews before and/or after their practice.

No need to arrive early, as nothing will be going on before 10:30am.

Like last year, there will be 2 Hot Ramps -- one housing military aircraft and a second housing civilian aircraft.

Media Day offers access to the civilian Hot Ramp, performing aircraft, pilots and crew. We will do our best to accommodate requests to visit the military Hot Ramp.

Media check-in will be inside the FlightLine Services building (located to the right of the Terminal; as you enter off Fountain Street, follow the road to the end, and as it curves to the right, FlightLine will be on your left).

All performers will be practicing on Friday, so areas may be temporarily restricted because of aircraft movement. Please adhere to regulations and direction by air show personnel.

Show Days & the Photo Pit

All those given Media Accreditation and Photo Pit Accreditation receive complimentary entry to the Waterloo Air Show and access to the Photo Pit for the two show days. This is an exclusive, front-row viewing area, close to the ramp where all aircraft taxi before and after their performance. We try to make the area comfortable with plastic chairs, a modest shelter with a table, and bottled water.

Parking

Media Day parking on-site (instructions for FRIDAY, June 27 only):

Please note, the airport underwent significant changes to their parking lots since last year's show. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to distribute parking passes, so please park in one of the airport's public parking lots and pay the required fees. (at least you'll be on site)

Show Days parking (Sat & Sun):

Note: parking is very restricted this year and media accreditation does not automatically garner a parking pass. To park on-site on shows days, a parking pass is required. For Accredited Media who get a parking pass, you can pick it up during Friday's Media Day. If you come to the show for the first time on Saturday or Sunday, you can show your media outlet's credentials to police on Fountain Street for access to the airport. Those without an air show parking pass or your own media I.D. can park with the general public and make your way to the Media Entrance (which is the same at the VIP entrance).

 Media Entrance - Check-In Gate

On Saturday and Sunday, media will check in at the VIP Entrance where there will be a media table. For those arriving via the shuttle buses, DO NOT enter the air show at the Main Entrance where the buses drop you off, but continue outside the fenceline another (approx) 100 metres to the VIP entrance. It is recommended, you simply ask a volunteer at the Main Entrance to point you in the direction of the VIP Entrance.

For guests who are accompanying accredited media, they can pay their entrance fee at the VIP Entrance.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

We look forward to hosting you.
